Why ForWord Consulting? We're Glad You Asked.
It's All About You
Our engaging, knowledgable college admissions coaches and counselors work with your student to understand your specific needs.
From there, we tailor our services to you to improve your chances for college admission. We ask questions to offer admissions guidance as well as understand your preferences, finances, and readiness. Using the most current data, ForWord develops a personalized plan to ready your student for the application process. Our one-on-one, individualized approach makes the process as stress-free and seamless as possible. |
We Honor the Child You Have

At ForWord Consulting, we meet your child exactly where they are.
Unlike other college consulting companies, we work with all students, regardless of GPA, extracurricular activities, or ability. If your child wants to attend college, we do, too.
We believe deeply in relationship building, so once you have a counselor, that is your only person. This allows us to tailor a plan directly to that student. There is no one-size-fits-all approach here.
We limit the number of clients in each class to ensure everyone receives the attention they deserve. We are committed to you without overcommitting ourselves.

Why Us?
We're glad you asked.
Everyone's always welcome here.
We mean that in every possible way. We welcome working with any student from any background or any circumstance.
Parents are always part of the process. Or not.
During our Zoom meetings, everyone is welcome. Early in the process, it might be parents and student. Later, it might be just the student. It never matters to us who shows up for the Zoom meeting.
No matter what, though, parents always receive the information they need.
We start early so students can finish early.
If seniors wait until school starts to begin the application process, they are in for a rude awakening. Adding applications to sports, classes, and senioritis is a recipe for disaster. We start the actual application process in the winter of Junior year and hope to have it completed before school starts senior year.
Nothing is more important than your relationship with your child.
Talking about college can be stressful for parents, children, and their relationships. Having a counselor available removes the constant stress from dinners, car rides, and vacations, allowing you to enjoy your child rather than nag (or be ignored).
"I wish I had known!"
We're popular at cocktail parties where a high-school parent will inevitably ask us some questions. (We don't mind!) When we mention a nuance a parent didn't know about (Demonstrated Interest? Legacy? Admission Rates?), we are often met with surprise (and anguish).
Starting with students as early as 8th grade allows us to make literal and figurative course corrections. Although there's nothing wrong with starting a little later, too. In fact, the majority of families reach out sophomore/junior year.
Your goals are our goals.
Engineering, southern sororities, non-traditional scheduling, snowboarding, Ivies, cost-conscious--no matter your goal, it's ours too. While we offer no promises, we will promise to keep your goals in mind.

How We Work

We ask questions--and listen.
Only then do we make a plan for
Only then do we make a plan for
- Explaining how colleges review transcripts and what course choices might mean.
- Reviewing extracurricular activities and offering possible suggestions for improvement.
- Creating strong resumes that we review at each session.
- Understanding the current state of admissions testing and creating a testing plan.
- Constructing solid college lists with attention to reach, target, and safeties.
- Securing letters of recommendation.
- Guiding students through college engagement.
- Managing and completing college applications.
- Determining appropriate deadlines.
- Developing strong essay topics.
- Working collaboratively with professionals to help students turn those topics into strong, impactful essays that retain the student's unique voice. (If we can smell an adult's hand in the essay, colleges can too.)
